Sherman County, TXGenWeb
Welcome to Sherman County!

Sherman County is north of Amarillo in the Panhandle and bordered in the north by Texas County, Oklahoma. It was created in 1876 and organized in 1889. It's named for General Sidney Sherman (1805-1873), who fought in the Texas Revolution and was later put in charge of the defense of Galveston Island during the Civil War. The county seat is Stratford.
Our neighbor to the west is Dallam County, to the south is Moore County and Hansford covers our eastern line.
