Dolly Foust Cole
CLARENDON - Dolly Foust Cole, 85, died Saturday, Sept. 6,
2003.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Citizens
Cemetery with Dr. Howard Batson, pastor of First Baptist
Church in Amarillo, officiating. Arrangements are by
Robertson Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Cole was born March 20, 1918, in New Mexico and had
been a resident of Claude and then Clarendon most of her
adult life. She married Abram Thornton "Abe"
Cole Jr. on July 7, 1935, in Clarendon.
She had been very active in the Donley County Senior
Citizens Association in Clarendon for many years. She was
a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 20,
1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Betsy Keeney and husband,
Dale, of Amarillo; a sister, Clara Bell Gristy of
Lubbock; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice in
Amarillo or the Donley County Senior Citizens Association
in Clarendon.

B.W. Smith
CLARENDON - B.W. Smith, 88, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003,
in Pampa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist
Church with the Rev. Melvin Brooks, pastor of St.
Stephen's Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in
Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors.
Mr. Smith was born Jan. 2, 1915, in Gilmer, and had been
a Clarendon resident most of his life. He married
Beatrice V. Jones on March 7, 1934, in Gilmer. He was
retired from the railroad and had farmed for several
years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St.
Stephen's Baptist Church in Clarendon.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Combs, and two
brothers, Neal Smith and George Smith.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Essie Jean
McCampbell, Doris Gardner and Joann Brown, all of
Clarendon; five sons, Bobby Smith, Curtis Smith and B.W.
Smith Jr., all of Amarillo, Billy Smith of Memphis and
Archie Smith of Mesquite; a sister, Essie Shoels of
Amarillo; 31 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; and
13 great-great-grandchildren.

Avis Johnson Fain
CLARENDON - Avis Johnson Fain, 89, died Wednesday, Sept.
24, 2003, in Katy.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today in St. John the Baptist
Episcopal Church with the Rev. Ned Creswell of Amarillo
officiating. Burial will be in Oaks Creek Ranch Cemetery
near Clarendon by Robertson Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Fain was born Feb. 12, 1914, in Red River County.
She was a resident of Estelline before moving to Donley
County in 1941. She married Rodney Burchel
"Fuzz" Fain on Feb. 26, 1934, in Memphis. She
was a homemaker and ranch wife most of her life. She was
a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 23,
1984.
Survivors include two sisters, Sylvia Copeland of Slaton
and Vida Crowder of Yuma, Ariz.; and several nieces and
nephews.
Casket bearers will be Fred Molesworth, Jack Craft, Bill
Craft, Mitchell Martin, Doug Lowe and Kade Mathews.
