Esther Lillian Harris
Owens
HEDLEY - Esther Lillian Harris Owens, 91, died Monday,
June 9, 2003, in Mabank.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist
Church in Hedley with the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor of
Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon, officiating.
Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery by Robertson Funeral
Directors of Clarendon.
Mrs. Owens was born June 6, 1912, in Gainesville. She was
a former resident of Hedley and Arlington. She had lived
in the Mabank area for approximately a year. She married
Michael Harris, who preceded her in death in 1975. She
then married Otis Owens who preceded her in death in
1992. She never wavered in her love for God, her family
and her friends. She had been a farmer and a homemaker.
She was a member of Lamar Baptist Church in Arlington.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; and a son,
Bill Harris.
Survivors include a son, Bart Harris of Trinidad; two
daughters-in-law, Charlene Harris of Trinidad and Louise
Harris of Arlington; eight grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.

Louise Corgill Hood
CLARENDON - Louise Corgill Hood, 66, died Tuesday, June
10, 2003, in Taylor.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Robertson Funeral
Directors Chapel of Memories with Richard Paul Corgill, a
family member, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens
Cemetery.
Mrs. Hood was born April 14, 1937, in Estelline, Hall
County. She was a former resident of Turkey. She lived in
Grant Shoals for 11 years before moving to Taylor three
years ago. She married J.W. Hood on March 13, 1981, in
Tucumcari, N.M. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 19,
2000.
Survivors include a daughter, Rieta Starnes and husband,
Marty, of Taylor; a son, Kenneth "Bo" Garvin
and wife, Vanessa, of Forsan; a sister, Sue Strange of
Claude; three brothers, Ray Corgill of Tulsa, Okla.,
Eugene Corgill of Midland and Jerry Corgill of Levelland;
and five grandchildren, Andrew Barry, Adam Barry, Jacob
Barry, Joshua Cates and Hanna Cates.
Casket bearers include William Lee Corgill, Ricky
Corgill, Gary Corgill, Rodney Corgill, Roy Corgill, Steve
Corgill and David Corgill. Honorary bearer will be Bryan
Strange.

Claudine Todd
CLARENDON - Claudine Todd, 92, died Monday, June 16,
2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Robertson Funeral
Directors Chapel with the Rev. Steve Fulton, minister of
Providence Baptist Church in Henderson, officiating.
Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery.
Mrs. Todd was born Jan. 24, 1911, in Comanche County to
Mr. and Mrs. D.T. Smallwood. She moved with her family to
the Brice Community in 1924. She graduated from Clarendon
High School and Clarendon College. She received her
bachelor's and master's degrees from West Texas State
University.
She began her teaching career in Brice and taught there
for four years. She married Bill Todd in 1935 and they
both taught in Chamberlain for eight years. Mrs. Todd
taught in Clarendon Elementary and Clarendon Junior High
for 11 years. She then began teaching English at
Clarendon High School. Her 41-year career left a rich
heritage to the community of Clarendon. Her dedication to
her profession and concern for young people touched many
lives. She will be greatly missed by her former students
and the entire community of Clarendon. Mrs. Todd was a
member of Providence Baptist Church in Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984.
Survivors include two sisters, Frankie McAnear of
Clarendon and Mamie Cross of Amarillo; four nephews,
Ronnie McAnear and wife, Melinda, of Clarendon, Dwight
McAnear and wife, Sharon, of Durango, Colo., Freddie
McAnear and wife, Marsha, of Houston and Billy Cross and
wife, Kathy, of Somerset; two nieces, Susan Robinson and
husband, Jack, of Amarillo and Jeanie Echols and husband,
Robert, of Albany; 12 great-nieces and nephews; and six
great-great-nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to Citizens Cemetery,
P.O. Box 669, Clarendon, TX 79226.
The family will be at the Todd home in Clarendon.
