Jack E. Gray
CLARENDON - Jack E. Gray, 78, died Thursday, Feb. 27,
2003.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Robertson Funeral
Directors Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. James Ivey
Edwards, pastor of First United Methodist Church,
officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery.
Mr. Gray was born Dec. 14, 1924, to Fred and Ruthie Gray.
He was a retired former Donley County judge and was an
Air Force veteran.
Casketbearers will be Lanee Gray, Red Enmon, Dale
Templet, Robbie Kidd, Doug Kidd and Bob Kidd.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma "Soozi"; a
daughter, Cindy Dollar and husband, Earl, of California;
three sons, Barry Gray and wife, Anne, of Oklahoma City,
Freddy Gray and wife, Jennifer, of Salt Lake City and
Danny Gray of El Paso; 12 grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at
the funeral home.

Charles Alexander
"Bud" Wright
CLARENDON - Charles Alexander "Bud" Wright, 90,
died Wednesday, March 12, 2003.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Citizens
Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Hodges, pastor of Clarendon
Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Arrangements are by
Robertson Funeral Directors.
Mr. Wright was born March 6, 1913, in Clarendon and was a
lifetime Clarendon resident. He was a farmer and a
windmill repairman most of his life before his
retirement. He married Carman Camilla Jones on June 5,
1954, in Clarendon. He was a Presbyterian.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Guy Wright,
Thompson Wright and Norwood Wright; and five sisters,
Gladys Servis, Dorothy Leggett, Isabell Thornberry,
Lucille Hodel and Fannie Daugherty.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Susan Ann Wright
of Abilene; a son, John Charles Sommers of Dallas; a
sister, Laverne Greene of Palestine; two grandsons, Scott
Sommers and Nicholas Sommers, both of Dallas; and two
great-grandsons, Cole Sommers and Luke Sommers, both of
Dallas.
Honorary bearers will be Scott Sommers, Nicholas Sommers,
Doug Lowe, Jim Riley, Buster Gray and Ray David.

Lena Smith King
CLARENDON - Lena Smith King, 92, died Thursday, March 27,
2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Community Fellowship
Church in Clarendon with the Rev. Bryan Knowles
officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by
Robertson Funeral Directors.
Mrs. King was born Sept. 5, 1910, in Lindsay, Okla., to
John Preston Welch and Lilla Verna Melton Welch. She was
the eldest of six children. She was a resident of Pampa,
then Ruidoso Downs, N.M., before moving to Clarendon in
1979.
She married Lue H. Smith on May 23, 1929, in Woodward,
Okla. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1968. She
married E. Hugh King on Feb. 14, 1972, in Ruidoso Downs.
He preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1975. She was a
homemaker and member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers;
three sisters; and a grandson, Kenneth W. Teague, on Jan.
7, 1983.
Survivors include two daughters, Verna Grace Teague and
husband, J.C., of Clarendon and Loretta Anne Bell of
Amarillo; a son, Joseph David Smith of Amarillo; five
grandchildren, J. Stanley Teague and wife, Linda, of
Amarillo, B. Jeffery David Smith and Kerry Ann Michael
and husband, John, all of Wichita, Kan., Leah G. Crawford
and husband, Paul, of Montgomery, Ala., and Lena Jo
"Jodie" Bell of Houston; 10
great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and
her church family at Calvary Baptist Church in Clarendon.
