Nona Mae Howell
HEDLEY - Nona Mae Howell, 85, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003,
in Claude.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist
Church with the Rev. Bruce Howard, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery by Robertson Funeral
Directors of Clarendon.
Mrs. Howell was born July 23, 1918, in Knox City. She was
a longtime resident of Hedley before moving to Amarillo
several years ago. She married R.J. Howell on Sept. 3,
1938, in Hedley. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 6,
1971; two sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Lee Harred and
husband, Bobby, of Claude; two sons, Jimmie Don Howell
and wife, Joyce, and Don Dewane Howell and wife, LaJune,
of Amarillo; a sister, Othel Bolin of Hedley; five
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers include Ron Sauls, Doug Howell, Trent
Riley, Gary Riley, Tony Winn, B.J. Harred and Buddy Winn.

Curtis Owen Johnson
CLARENDON - Curtis Owen Johnson, 64, died Thursday, Oct.
23, 2003, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in First United
Methodist Church with the Rev. James Ivey Edwards,
pastor, and the Rev. Bill Hodges, pastor of Clarendon
Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be in
Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors.
Mr. Johnson was born July 28, 1939, in Clarendon to
Curtis A. "Penny" Johnson and Vera Oakley
Johnson. He had been a lifetime resident of Clarendon. He
married Frances Marie Wallace on June 27, 1964, in
Clarendon. He was a partner in Wallace Monument Co. for
several years before his retirement. He was a member of
First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 6, 1998.
Survivors include a daughter, Amy Johnson of Denver; a
son, Mitch Johnson of Dallas; his mother, Vera Johnson of
Clarendon; two sisters, Beth Johnston and Charlene Mays,
both of Clarendon; a brother, Mike Johnson of Clarendon;
and a granddaughter, Olivia Johnson.

Shirley Ann Carmichael
CLARENDON - Shirley Ann Carmichael, 66, died Tuesday,
Oct. 28, 2003.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Citizens
Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Hodges, pastor of Clarendon
Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Arrangements are by
Robertson Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Carmichael was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Bridgeport,
Ill., and had been a resident of Clarendon for much of
her life. She married Joe Bob Carmichael on Jan. 1, 1956,
in Clovis, N.M. She was a homemaker and a member of
Clarendon Church of the Nazarene.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 13,
2000.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Hopkins of Lubbock
and Bobbi Jo Sipe of Reagan, N.D.; two sons, Eddie
Carmichael of Texline and Jerry Carmichael of Clarendon;
three sisters, Dorothy Gray of San Angelo, Margaret Wood
of Daleville, Ind., and Linda Kay Pineda of Indio,
Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pauline Lucille Koontz
CLARENDON - Pauline Lucille Koontz, 89, died Wednesday,
Oct. 29, 2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church
with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor, and the Rev.
Bryan Knowles, pastor of Community Fellowship Church, and
Jerry Koontz, her son, officiating. Burial will be in
Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Koontz was born Dec. 2, 1913, in Burleson, where she
lived until moving to Donley County in 1919. She married
Delmar Rigdon Koontz on Dec. 24, 1938, in Clarendon. She
was a homemaker, a member of Martin Quilting Club, First
Baptist Church and Rebekah Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 10,
1992; and two brothers.
Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Helms of
Clarendon, Glenda Rogers and husband, Gary, of
Albuquerque, N.M., Cleeta Goad and husband, Hoyte, of
Beechgrove, Tenn., and Judy Morgan and husband, James, of
DeSoto; a son, Jerry Koontz and wife, Janan, of
Clarendon; a sister, Lois Lair of Clarendon; a brother,
James Stone of Arlington; her special caregivers, Michael
and Suzie Rhinehart and family of Clarendon; 11
grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers will be Jeff Helms, Jason Morgan, Nathan
Koontz, Justin Helms, Jessie Waldon and John Miller.
