My great grandfather was James BECK born Ruthwell parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland.
He emigrated to New Zealand in 1858 and he and half of his children died of HD.
Mid 1800s, related BECK family members from Ruthwell and Cummertrees were diagnosed as insane, with symptoms showing HD.
Crichton Royal Infirmary, Dumfries, kindly sent me copies of Admissions for four men, John, Robert, James and James. These records identify a number of relatives 'with the same diagnosis', over three generations.
